  • Two Network Marketing Questions You Need to Answer

    Partner 12:00 am on November 30, 2008 | 0 Permalink | Reply

When marketing online, two questions beg to be answered immediately. They are generally self-explanatory, yet I’ve seen so many marketers ignore one or the other.

The first question is this: Who are you going to market to? This is what we call your target market. Are you targeting stay at home moms, lower income people, or previously successful entrepreneurs? How you answer this question is crucial to your success.

In network marketing, there is only one group of people I’d recommend targeting. Why? Because it takes a certain kind of person to see the bigger picture in a network marketing opportunity. (And if you’re buying the whole “everybody is your prospect” line, then we’ve seriously got to talk.)

So who would your ideal target market be? Who understands network marketing requires work and discipline? Who has made their names list, done business presentations for their families and friends and, because they were taught to find a way to snake their business opportunity into every conversation, now find themselves not being invited to family gatherings and such?

Well, considering more than 95% of network marketers fail within three to four months, the answer should be somewhat obvious. The target market for network marketers is fellow network marketers.

I’m not saying to persuade those in other companies to join your opportunity. More than likely, that would also end in frustration. However, with a 95% failure rate, there are a whole lot of people out there who believe in network marketing but haven’t been given the proper support or training. This is where you come in.

If you target these disillusioned, but motivated souls, you’ll find a gold mine. By teaching them solid, no nonsense marketing techniques, many are likely to succeed, which translates into more success for you.

And then the second question: How will you market your products and/or opportunity? Depending on your product, there are several ways

If you have a decent-sized marketing budget, you should probably go with solo ads in ezines. I’ve found them to be quite responsive, and many people on my team have built their entire downline using only solo ads. They’re awesome, if you can afford them.

Another method is pay-per-click advertising. This is usually done with Google Adwords, and I’ve seen many people do quite well using this method. On the other hand, I’ve seen many more people go broke using pay-per-click as well.

If you do decide to use pay-per-click advertising, I’d suggest reading a book or two or even three, just to make sure you know what you’re doing. You can lose a lot of money really fast that way.

If your budget is limited, then you’ll want to take advantage of the free methods available. There are lots of free things you can do to promote your business, but keep in mind, most are very time consuming.

Firstly, I’d sign up for and use all the top-performing traffic exchanges out there. Start out with between 5 and 10. It will usually take some time before you start earning enough credits to make a difference in your business, but if your funds are low, you may not have a choice.

Another route you could go is to start a blog. If you’re like me, when you first start to post there, you find it’s hard to know what to say. A solution: Go to ezinearticles and use some of their articles on network marketing. It’s totally free, and as long as you keep the author’s information exactly as it is there, it’s legal.

Then, after you get 10 or 20 articles, go to pingomatic and have your blog pinged, so the search engines know you’re out there. Eventually your blog will start to draw in a lot of traffic.

  • Network Marketing Online--Why Do It Any Other Way?

    Partner 12:00 am on November 30, 2008 | 0 Permalink | Reply

As a network marketer, I do about 99.9% of all my marketing online. With the Internet, it’s just a no-brainer. Network marketing is a people business, and where can you reach more people than the Internet?

Offline marketing is just so time consuming. I remember the hours spent on the phone calling numbers from a list I’d purchased. If I did get through to the person I was trying to reach, which happened about 3% of the time, they were usually rude, said they hadn’t requested any information, and would appreciate it if I took them off my list.

    What a waste of time!

Another offline technique I’d used was the 3-foot-rule. You know, that’s the one where you strike up a conversation with anyone coming within 3 feet of you, and snaking your business message in there somehow. I used to go to the grocery store, solely for that purpose. Oh yeah, that one really brought me a lot of business (not!).

Still another tactic was placing or handing out flyers. I was taught to go to apartment building parking lots at 2am and put flyers on all the cars. This one felt sneaky, almost dirty, like I was ashamed of what I was doing. No wonder so many of us quit this business.

The discomfort factor really plays into it, as well. Unless you have incredibly thick skin and a “sales” personality, offline marketing can be quite intimidating. You experience it the very first time you try to make a cold call. If you’re like I was, your mouth becomes the Sahara, and the phone suddenly weighs 700 pounds. You make every excuse you can think of to put this off until another day.

With offline marketing, it’s also difficult to target prospects. Face it, handing out flyers at Walmart is not going to net you many serious prospects. Neither will placing an ad in your local newspaper.

Another downside to offline marketing is their training, or lack thereof. Training usually consists of going to meetings, either in a hotel room or somebody’s home. If the meetings are held Thursdays at 7pm and you work from noon until 8pm, then where does that put you?

That’s a double whammy, because offline marketers tend to get beat down more than online marketers. Because of this, they actually need that training, just to stay focused and motivated.

If you’re thinking about marketing online, you will need at least some training in online advertising and marketing. If you don’t know much about autoresponders and capture pages, for instance, those are two aspects of online marketing you will need to become familiar with.

One very positive aspect of online marketing is that it’s very easy to target your prospects. Safelists, traffic exchanges, and keywords for search engines provide just some ways to take aim at your market.

Probably the biggest selling point for me, however, is that online marketing doesn’t require any sales skills or outgoing personality. And honestly, network marketing is not set up for just those kinds of people. It’s all about duplication, and just because you might be a sales type, doesn’t mean that everybody in your downline has that type of personality. How, then, would they duplicate your success?

As far as training goes, you can train and motivate your downline daily, with all the online methods available. Is a downline member struggling? Shoot her an email with a link to a motivating website, or maybe to some training she needs to overcome a problem.

Personally, I see little reason to market any other way.

  • Remembering The Network In Network Marketing

    Partner 12:00 am on November 30, 2008 | 0 Permalink | Reply

Everywhere we look these days we hear about networking. It’s been said that networking is all we can do to prepare for the economic train wreck up ahead.

In the corporate world we now see positions with titles like Chief Networking Officer (CNO). The ability to build alliances, negotiate, and communicate effectively is a primary prerequisite for most top level government jobs.

So, what exactly is networking, and should you be doing it? Why do so many people think it’s important?

Yes, you definitely should network. After all, you are involved in NETWORK marketing, aren’t you? What does it mean, to network?

Networking is simply meeting other people for the purpose of creating mutual beneficial relationships. These relationships can be professional, personal, or both.

Why is networking a good idea? For one, the more people you know, the more options are available to you. For instance, let’s say you lost your job. You could scour the want ads, post your resume, even visit potential employers to find out if they’re hiring.

But, let’s say you also network on a regular basis, and that you’ve developed amicable relationships with many people. Since they both know and like you, they’re likely to keep their eyes and ears open for any job openings they might come across. Even better, maybe some are even in a position to hire you themselves.

So how is it done? Do you just call somebody up and start chatting? Are there certain protocols to follow?

Well, I’ve been a therapist now going on 14 years, and my first response when getting to know someone is to ask questions. People love to talk about themselves. In networking, you have to give before you receive. This means really listening to the answers you get, then asking for clarification.

For instance, if somebody says, “I don’t like network marketing,” ask what they don’t like about it. Maybe they were with a company that insisted they go to weekly meetings. Maybe their sponsor was a jerk. Maybe they’re just saying that because they heard someone else say it.

Also, make sure the person you’re talking with knows you understand what they’re saying. Unfortunately, listening has become a lost art, and most people don’t feel heard when they speak. If you can demonstrate that you do hear and understand, you’ll gain a lot of points.

Dale Carnegie said it best: “To be interesting, be interested.” If you do this enough, not only will you have won friends and influenced people, but you’ll become quite wealthy.

  • Thinking Of Starting An Online Network Marketing Business?

    Partner 12:00 am on November 30, 2008 | 0 Permalink | Reply

If you’ve looked around the Internet at all, you know that the time couldn’t be more perfect to start an online network marketing business.

Why do I say this? Well, with Internet traffic at an all time high, and people looking for alternative ways to make a living, especially in the current economy, many are seeking out online businesses to start. An online network marketing business is the ideal model in this case.

What makes owning your own network marketing business so attractive? Many would say it’s the lack of a boss. There’s nobody telling you what to do or how to do it. You don’t have to worry about biting your tongue, especially if your boss is someone you don’t really care for. If you own your own network marketing business, you never have to be around people you don’t like ever again (OK, maybe at family gatherings, but . . .).

A time clock is also a missing element when running your own business. You don’t have to start at a certain time, and work until the clock strikes a certain hour. You work when you deem it best. You set your own hours.

This is not to say that you can become a slacker. Just the opposite, in fact. Without a boss, you need to step up and become that boss. It’s now up to you to make sure things get done. It can be hard work.

You also need to be teachable. Of the people I’ve seen who fail in this business (and there are a lot of them), virtually all of them tried to reinvent the wheel. They thought they could develop a better system than the one already in place. It’s extremely important to follow the lead of your upline.

Try this: Find out who in your upline is making the kind of money you’d like to be making. Ask them what they do on a daily basis, and do the same. It’s that simple. If you do what the successful do, how can you be anything but successful yourself?

While there is really no right or wrong way to promote a network marketing business, I prefer to do almost all my marketing online. I say almost all, because I do teach a class once a week, and close to the end of the class I’ll announce that if anyone is interested in starting an online business to come see me after class. This usually brings me about 3 to 4 leads a week.

One reason I prefer online as opposed to offline marketing is that I enjoy it more. I’m not a “sales” type, not overly outgoing, and love writing articles and setting up online campaigns. When I go to bed at night, I simply can’t wait to check my autoresponder in the morning to see how many new leads I have to work with.

I also find online marketing more profitable. I can reach so many more people online than offline, and they’re much more targeted. Reaching more targeted people quite naturally translates into more sales.

Still another attractive aspect of online market is the automation. I’m open for business 24/7, and I’m global. I literally make money while I sleep. It’s the ultimate in leveraging my time.

So, if you’re one of those considering an online business (and in this economy, you’d be crazy not to), online network marketing is probably the most efficient way to go. It’s far from easy, but well worth the effort.

  • Why Is Network Marketing So Hard?

    Partner 12:00 am on November 29, 2008 | 0 Permalink | Reply

Contrary to all the sensational claims, all the ads screaming, “Easy Money, Just Click Here!”, and all the smooth talking videos, network marketing is hard. There, I said it.

Anybody who’s tried it already knows this. If it’s not hard, then why do upwards of 95% of the people who try it fail?

So what makes it so hard?

Mostly, the companies themselves are to blame. Most company training that I’ve been a part of has been positively atrocious. They focus almost exclusively on their product and how to present this product to others. They seldom mention how to find people who’ll actually listen to what you have to say.

Instead of teaching you how to identify your target market, companies are notorious for blabbering nonsense like “everybody is your prospect.” They then tell you to put flyers on cars, hound your friends and family, and exercise the 3-foot-rule. NOTE: Anybody who has not used the 3-foot-rule, you really don’t know what you’re missing.

Another tactic more slightly evolved companies suggest is to buy lead lists and cold call. Now, to be honest, this method has worked wonders for some people. But speaking from experience, I never recruited one person this way, and I called a lot of people.

Most people, after cold calling a few leads and getting the same dismal response that I did would quit. I know this because I’ve talked to many former and current network marketers who told me so. I’ve given up in frustration myself. Mostly because I was unable to make any forward progress at all, and my upline had no clue how to help me.

So what’s the right way to approach network marketing today? If it’s possible to become successful in network marketing (and I know firsthand, it is), what methods do we need to use?

Firstly, it’s essential to generate your own leads. Fortunately, with the Internet, it’s become almost easy to do this. Everything from traffic exchanges to safelists to ezine solo ads make it possible to generate about as many leads as you care to. These take either time or money, or both.

You’ll also need some sort of website or capture page. There again, you can find all the information you need to set up these online. They’re not very expensive, and are crucial if you want to generate your own leads.

Also, you page or site must look professional. You can find professional-looking templates, and if you can’t write good copy, you can hire someone to write your copy for you.

So, how does someone visiting your page become a lead? The most effective way is to offer people a free gift in exchange for their contact information. I use a 3-page report I wrote, and you can do the same. Some people use ebooks, which works just as well.

Now that you’ve captured a lead, what do you do with it? Do you call them up and start pitching your company? Not hardly. Way to soon for that. If you do call them, there’s a 75% chance that you’ll get voicemail, but that’s OK. Your message should say something like, “Hey Bob, this is Joe Smith, and I was calling to see if you received the free report you downloaded from my website. If you have any questions, you can reach me at xxx-xxxx.” That’s all you need to say for now.

Now, granted, there’s a slim to none chance of him ever calling you back. But that’s OK. All you’re doing now is planting seeds. He’s seen your name on your website, and now he’s heard your name on his voicemail. Once he reads your report and likes what you have to say, he’s no longer a cold lead.

You might call again a couple days later, again asking if he’s got any questions about anything he read in your report. The reason: You want to come off as a consultant, not as a salesman. Plus, if he’s read your report, there’s a good chance he already views you as somewhat of an expert already.

All of this is called “pre-selling,” and it’s essential in network marketing. No one likes to be sold, but everybody wants to succeed. If you can demonstrate that you’re the one who can help them get there, you increase your chances of recruiting this person into your downline.

As I said earlier, network marketing is hard. There are tools today, however, that make it much easier than it used to be. And, if you persevere, the rewards are well worth it.

  • Why Inter-Network Marketing Reviews Can Harm Your MLM Business Growth

    Partner 12:00 am on November 28, 2008 | 0 Permalink | Reply

There comes a time when you have to stop reading inter-network marketing reviews and actually start implementing some of the tips you learn. While you may be excited about the prospect of using the power of the internet to attract more targeted prospects into your business, unless you’re actually doing the practical, then no amount of theory will help you grow your business.

One of the reasons why people get stuck in theory mode is because of the overwhelm factor. That is, reading too many reviews but not having a clue where to start. This is understandable especially for network marketers entering the online arena for the first time because they simply lack a how to.

Well, the truth is, you need to get out of your comfort zone and step into your discomfort zone and learn new skills. We will outline five areas of online promotion you should look at but we suggest getting comfortable with each one of them one at a time. Sey yourself a time frame such as spending at least one week learning each of these areas on internet marketing and start using them.

    Inter-Network Marketing Reviews

Here are five areas which should form part of your marketing online:

    - article marketing
    - web 2 marketing
    - building your own site and blog
    - blog commenting
    - forum marketing

If these sound foreign to you then you need to take the step from just reading inter-network marketing reviews and take action. Article marketing for example means just that. Writing articles around selected keywords and then submitting those articles to major article directories.

Web 2 marketing involves using free services such as Squidoo and building a page dedicated to giving information about your chosen key phrase.

Building you own blog or website gives you the opportunity to begin to brand yourself. If you are currently using a comapny generated website then you are playing a losing game. These type of websites are okay if you send someone directly to them but they are useless in the search engines.

Your own property means you are standing above the majority and have an enormous edge because your site is unique, well optimized and is basically about you. And it’s you that people will be drawn to. And better still, people will be able to find you simply by typing in the search terms your optimizing for into search engines.

The benefit of using each of the above methods is you will also be branding yourself and setting yourself apart from the majority of internet network marketers. So when reading internet network marketing reviews make sure you get both the blueprint and the how to before committing to any program.

  • TV: The Way to Cost-Effectively Promote Your Book

    Partner 12:00 am on November 27, 2008 | 0 Permalink | Reply

When I asked one of my clients which medium was most beneficial for him and why, he said, “I found that you get almost instant results with TV. Viewers believe what you have to say and as a result you get to reach tons of people in a “real” way. And the results are tremendous. From one TV appearance alone I got close to 1,000 subscribers to my book’s newsletter.”

This particular client has other products he’s selling beyond his book, and because he gets such a great response from most of his TV appearances, this became a key part of his marketing strategy.

Now, if you’re just promoting a book, traveling to different cities is not a good idea because the return on investment doesn’t play in your favor.

What I strongly recommend though is for authors to do as many local media appearances and book-signings as possible in the cities where they live. I can’t emphasize this strongly enough. For viral marketing reasons, credibility reasons, branding, networking and sales reasons, it’s very important to build a solid promotional base from which to grow, and your hometown is the perfect place to start building.

From there you can branch out to other cities. If you travel on business, use those trips as an opportunity to do TV and radio appearances in those cities.
The important thing to know is that you may have the potential to be a guest on TV, and if so, it’s a great opportunity to gain the recognition you need to make your book well known.

Another client told me, “The cost benefit analysis of TV is a no-brainer. Not only do you get the benefit of this quality exposure, but the amount of credibility you build is priceless!”

And make no mistake; it’s all about building credibility. Whether the credibility is for you as an author or for your business, the positioning of you as a guest on TV is the kind of credibility you can’t buy.
And if you want to eventually get on National TV, you need to have some good local interviews under your belt. We find that to be almost a pre-requisite these days from producers at the national level. But, the payoff can be big.

Another client sent us an email after he did a very short interview on a nationally syndicated TV show. He said, “Thanks for scheduling my TV appearance! Wow! We had a record number of visitors to our website which of course means great online book sales and a huge number of people added to my data base for future sales.”

  • Overnight Shipping: Is it Really "Overnight"?

    Partner 12:00 am on November 27, 2008 | 0 Permalink | Reply

During an advertisement for an overnight shipping service, an announcer seriously intones ‘When it absolutely positively has to be there overnight.’ But for many, the question remains if the mail is truly delivered during the night time.

The answer is both yes and no.

    Logistics of Overnight Delivery

Overnight delivery policies and rates may differ from carrier to carrier, but most share one thing in common — time frames in which overnight packages can be delivered fluctuate greatly. Factors, such as when the package was handed over to a shipping representative, can greatly affect whether important mail is sent out before the close of business.

For instance, if you were to take a package to the local shipping center of your choice before noon, your package will be in transit and may arrive at your destination the following day. If however, you get the package in near the time of closing, the package may be placed in transit but cannot be guaranteed to be delivered the next day.

Now, in regards to the terminology ‘overnight’ can be a bit misleading.

As in our earlier example, if a package arrives at a service center early enough and is designated as an overnight shipment, it will immediately be sorted in the overnight bin for delivery. This means that it will actually be en route to its destination that very day. If it comes later in the evening, most commonly after 3 PM, then the package will be placed on a mail freight air service and in some cases, this air cargo will ship out in the evening.

Again this can also depends on the policies of the company and the type of overnight delivery service you choose.

    Types of Overnight Delivery

Just as there are several different mail carrier agencies, there are different types of overnight delivery packages. Depending on what you need to accomplish, the cost of the service may be expensive.

    Critical Overnight

There are many packages that absolutely have to arrive on time, and in some instances, such as with medical supplies, it can literally be a matter of life or death. With critical overnight shipments, packages can be guaranteed to get there the very next day to all fifty states, and in some cases Puerto Rico or Canada. This is because the service offers special air carriage 365 days a year and seven days a week. Most other services only occur during the business week.

International options are also available although, depending on where the destination location is, it may not exactly get there on time. When purchasing Critical overnight service, keep in mind the fact that the guarantee is somewhat limited and look into other options before paying the extra expense of critical overnight shipping.

    Next day Air

By utilizing commercial airlines, next day air packages can be delivered to any major US city in the US. Using modern day technology, like route optimization technology, shipments can be safely and effectively delivered on time when applicable. Next day air is a cost effective way of getting shipments to the proper locale but carries an even lesser degree of guarantee than critical overnight.

Again, if in doubt, discuss with the shipping representatives what the pros and cons of using Next Day Air.

    Next day Air Saver Shipping

This type of next day service only delivers within the continental US and cannot guarantee early morning delivery. Anyone who chooses this less costly route needs to be aware of that all important fact, especially if the package has to be there before noon.

If the time of morning does not matter, but getting it there the following day does, this is a wonderful option and is less expensive than the aforementioned services.

So, does overnight shipping overnight–it depends on the time you drop off your package and what service you utilize-but the one thing you can be certain of is that overnight shipping will get your package where it needs to be in the fastest amount of time possible.

Canada’s largest courier delivery services company provides same day shipping, overnight shipping, international shipping and freight. Offers a range of choices to help meet all your shipping needs.

  • Is It Too Late for You to Finally Get Your Business on the Internet!

    Partner 12:00 am on November 27, 2008 | 0 Permalink | Reply

    It’s a little past midnight…

Joanne has a pain in her lower back and can’t sleep. She logs on to the Internet and looks for a chiropractor in Des Moines.

Ellen is frustrated by her teenager daughter’s eating habits and mood swings. After the kids are in bed, she starts Googling – looking for a counselor, therapist or coach who specializes in adolescent girls with eating disorders.

That slow drip finally drives Jim crazy and he swears he’s calling the plumber tomorrow. He types “plumber Fresno” into the search box.

Many small business owners tell me that all of their business comes to them by word of mouth. They don’t feel any need to proactively market their services because they are doing just fine, thank you very much.

Really? You don’t want or need new customers? You can’t handle any more business? Are you going to be able to sustain yourself in this economy without continuing to add new clientele?

And don’t you think your referral customers might want to check you out before hiring you?

More likely you just don’t want to get into that marketing and advertising thing (especially on the Internet), so you are in avoidance mode.

Or maybe you think it is too late for you to jump on the Internet bandwagon.

But stop for a minute and look at the statistics: Over 77% of Americans are online: the penetration among the high household incomes (your target market) is even higher.

To stay competitive, you have got to be found by those searchers. The big companies have invested in their websites, so say goodbye to all your business when they find Roto-Rooter instead of YOU.

At this point, you are conspicuous by your absence.

Your Internet presence can be a simple, templated website, as long as it presents a professional image that is consistent with your image and messaging.

Or you can get more sophisticated with dynamic content, interactivity, online commerce, email newsletters to build customer relationships.

    Every marketing website must have:
    * Your business name, logo and tagline on every page.
    * Complete contact information, including address, phone number and email.
    * Information on your products and services and what makes you unique.
    * Your biography and photo if you are in a personal service business.
    * Legal terms of service.

As both a business coach and an Internet marketer, I am uniquely positioned to see one of the big follies of our day. Every day I see examples of entrepreneurs spending too much time and energy on the Internet efforts that they lost focus on what is really important and what makes them money.

Some folks are Twittering, some are creating extensive and lengthy email newsletters, some are blogging. Many of them are spending way too much money on fancy, over-the-top websites that are overkill.

Remember, unless you are strictly an ECommerce site and all of your business comes from Internet customers, it is most likely that you make most of your money OFFLINE by providing a service or selling a product.

Your website and internet activity should flow from smart business decisions, not the other way around.

Some examples: A consulting client hired me to work on their “web redesign.” We started to analyze the current site and think about the next version.

It quickly became clear that they need to make some bigger decisions about their brand, their products and service offerings.

They needed to tackle some staffing issues in order to deliver on the promise they were making on the Internet. Doing the website first just didn’t make sense.

We had to figure out what they were selling and THEN develop a website to showcase and present that to the world.

I cringe when I hear about an entrepreneur pouring their startup capital into a fancy, designed website. Spending thousands upfront, they are then held hostage by their web designer if they ever want to make a change!

Virtually every early-stage business will evolve and change in its startup period and if you’ve over-spent on a deluxe website that you can’t change, you are stuck. Be practical. What do your prospects need to know about you?

Create a good-enough website that accurately reflects what you do with a content management system. This is a much more practical approach and will allow your site to evolve along with your business.

Another client is a small business owner with a physical product that she sells through various channels, stores, distributors AND direct sales. It is a modest success in the first few months.

  • Should You Start a Home Based Business?

Job insecurity is a fact in today’s economy. Still, people are reluctant to own a home-based business. Why is this? Many are addicted to the paycheck mentality. They’d rather look for a job that pays them steadily, if somewhat dismally, than take a chance on a much bigger, brighter future.

Any self-made millionaire will tell you that the key to wealth is leverage. Leverage is simply making more money by doing less work. This is impossible as an employee, regardless of your salary. With a home-based business, you even earn while you sleep, especially with the enormous power of the Internet at your disposal.

Never before in history have we been able to connect to billions of people worldwide. Not only that, but we stay connected 24/7! Take a moment and imagine the implications of this.

In just 5 minutes, you could be set up to offer your products to customers anywhere on this planet. You have a store whose open sign is always on.

Compare that to working a job. If you’re on salary, you probably work more than 40 hours a week, and still bring home the same pay. If you are hourly, you only get paid while you’re on the clock. No surprises. You already know what your next week’s check is going to be. There’s not much you can do to change it.

Why do we keep trudging along then? Why don’t more of us kick the 9 to 5 and go out on our own? I think it’s fear. Not only that, but I think the fear is both created and promoted by big business. I mean, if all of us had our own business, who would they get to make the widgets, sweep the floors, or take out the trash?

You want to talk about fear? What could be scarier than to be at the whims of the people running Wall Street right now? With the swipe of a pen you can be downsized, like a non-person. You become just another number, a statistic.

While most of us have bought in to the whole master/slave mindset, I’m finding more and more people are questioning its validity. If you’re reading this, you’re probably one of those people.

When you first contemplate going out on your own, it can indeed be scary. Breaking the paycheck mentality addiction takes guts, and if you’re going to do it you need a plan. I would highly recommend investing in some personal development or growth before making the jump. Remember, you’re not only changing your lifestyle, you’re also changing your mindset.

In today’s economy, however, jumping may be much safer than staying aboard a sinking ship. Thousands of people, pink slips in hand, are finding this out on a daily basis. Unfortunately, most addicts don’t change until they hit rock bottom, which is where Wall Street appears to be headed right now.

In the long term, owning a home-based business provides much more security, as more of us are learning every day.
